    Biography

My research focuses on ways that individuals differ from one another and how environmental and genetic influences contribute to these differences. This interest leads tthree current projects: (1) Why do some individuals show rapid decline in cognitive functioning with age while others remain stable or decline relatively less? (2) Do people choose mates similar/dissimilar to themselves or does the family social milieu dictate the range of potential mates? (3) What are the mechanisms of familial transmission of substance use.
